This Was Always The Plan

This Was Always the Plan 40x50cm framed

With a tongue-in-cheek title that questions whether it was, in fact, originally conceived in its current form, this piece is a departure from the constraints of the strict grid structure in my other works. The stark contrast between the painted paper tiles and textured black background emphasizes the gradual movement within the form, and upon closer inspection, the subtle stitching around the border highlights the increased disorder at the two opposing corners of the piece.

Acrylic on paper, folded into tiles, beaded and stitched on textured synthetic bookbinding paper. Hand-stitched detail with DMC metallic thread. 50cm x 70cm.
