With paper painted on-site on a trip to Iceland, the details of this piece capture the texture of Icelandic rock through surface rubbings with water-soluble graphite; the colors of the otherworldly landscape; and the violent yet mesmerizing motion of the waterfall. The painting was then segmented and folded into tiles, assembled to echo the initial composition, and secured with beading and stitching.
Acrylic and graphite on paper, beads and DMC metallic thread, 50cm x 50 cm. 🔴
